About Us

Thank you for your interest in the Rangeline Conservation Club (RCC).  We exist to provide an area where you and your family can experience and enjoy some of Indiana's best woodlands.  RCC was organized in 2019 and leased the Furgeson land formerly leased by Izaak Walton. Anytime, feel free to call our membership chair Kathy Craig at 812-241-4469 or Club President Wayne Craig 812-241-7442.

Mission Statement / Pledge

To reach out to the community through educational, recreational, and charitable activities that promote enjoyment of the outdoors and conservation ideals, and to recruit new members to help with this cause.

Pledge:

To honor and protect our God given natural resources for our enjoyment, and preserve these for future generations, as was done. by those who roamed these hallowed grounds before us.  In agreement with these values, I pledge my loyalty to Rangeline Conservation Club

History

Originally, the  Clinton Conservation Chapter was formed by 60 men and 5 women from the local community and received its Charter on December 10, 1956. They first started meeting in a room above Mikes Motors, a local Dodge dealer. When the present site was leased, it was nothing more than an old strip mine, about 400 acres. This land was donated by Marie Ferguson and her father, Capps Ferguson, with the understanding it would be put in a holding company to hold the title (The Ferguson Recreation Park, Inc.) and leased to the Clinton Chapter Izaak Walton League. The members built the clubhouse with the skills from its members. From the terrazzo floor, to the laying of the concrete blocks, and the putting up of the roof, it was all done by the members. About 340 acres were put in a wildlife habitat program and duck boxes, bird houses and food plots were added.

The main pit had a dam built on the west end which formed Lake Marie. Lake Marie could not be seen from the clubhouse and it was decided to get a bulldozer and knock the ground down behind the clubhouse so you could see the lake. There are three floating docks on Lake Marie that offer some good fishing. Seven-pound bass, ten-pound catfish, bluegill and red ear have all been caught from them. The property has 10 or 11 other lakes and ponds on it. All have been stocked over the years.

There is a 25 and 50 yard pistol and rifle range and an archery range for the shooters to enjoy. (Now there is a 15-yard pistol, (2) 50-yard rifle ranges and a 100-yard range.) There are twelve non-electric camp sites and (12) 30-amp electric sites near the clubhouse. We have designated areas for camping. The back side of the property has primitive campsites but no electricity. There is also the John Milligan Trail that will take you through the woods and to another pond before reaching the main lake and back to the clubhouse.

Through out the year we have Spot Shoots, Fishing tournaments, and an annual picnic and other events. We also have a work day each month (the Saturday after the Member and Board meeting on the 2nd Thursday of each month) to work on new and existing projects.
